TVLine is reporting that Supergirl is adding Lucy Lane as a recurring character - Lois Lane's sister and the ex-girlfriend of award-winning photojournalist Jimmy Olsen - played in the show by Mehcad Brooks.
Said to be in her mid-20s to early-30s, Lucy has been described as "brash, funny and [as] beautiful as her sister Lois, yet strong, smart and successful in her own right."
Casting for the role has not yet been announced, but Lucy was previously played by Peyton List when she appeared on The CW series Smallville.
Lucy is the most recent character in the DC comics universe to step into the role of Superwoman, but there's no evidence to yet suggest that she'll be also taking up the mantle in the television series.
Earlier in the month, Supergirl actress Melissa Benoist spoke about the early criticism the show received, saying: "There's so much more in the pilot that I think people are really going to be surprised by."
Supergirl debuts on CBS in America on October 26, with no UK broadcaster yet chosen.
