Sid Owen will be sent to prison for a new Channel 4 series.
The British broadcaster has commissioned 'HMP', a new reality series, which sees a group of six male celebrities experience life in the slammer.
The ‘EastEnders’ legend will be joined by 'Gogglebox' star Marcus Luther, comedian, Tom Rosenthal, singer HRVY, journalist Peter Hitchens and ex MP Neil Parish as they swap their regular day to day for life behind bars.
The celebrity inmates will be locked up with reformed ex-cons, who served sentences for serious crimes at HMP Shrewsbury.
As well as being given jobs to undertake they will also be subjected to full body searches.
An insider previously told The Sun newspaper: "The idea behind the show is it gives people who might have zero experience of prison life, or the criminal justice system in general, a taste of just what it is like."
Sid, 51, is best known for playing Ricky Butcher in BBC One soap 'EastEnders' on and off from 1988 to 2023, has previously spoken about his father serving a life sentence for armed robbery.
The last time Owen visited his father was when he was a young boy.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “I didn't want to know him.
“I never had any respect for him because of how he was as a father and a husband.”
In 2010, Sid’s brother Darren Owen was jailed for eight years for his part in smuggling £1 million of cocaine from France in his VW Golf.
