Ray Quinn auditioned to be a judge on the current series of 'Dancing on Ice'.
The 29-year-old stage star won the fourth series of the ITV celebrity ice skating show in 2009, and has revealed he almost landed the spot on the panel which went to Diversity star Jordan Banjo, who judges alongside skating legends Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean and Australian choreographer Jason Gardiner.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the launch of the 'Dancing on Ice Tour', Ray - who is putting his skates back on for the run of dates - said: "I did do a screen test for the panel and for the role that Jordan did, it didn't end up working out unfortunately but of course I would love to be involved in the show just an excuse to carry on skating, otherwise there is no excuse for me to get my boots on!
"It's been a tough few weeks, my legs are in agony but I'm excited."
Asked if he could land the gig in the future, the former 'Brookside' star - who is partnered with professional skater Alexandra Schauman on the tour - said: "Who knows, never say never, I hope so. I would just love to be a part of it in anyway, I think it's a fantastic show, I'm pleased that it came back as there's no Sunday night show that could ever compete with it and it speaks for itself really.
"It's came back on a high, a massive tour they've called me back essentially to put my toe in the door and I'm just loving being involved in the team, in the family, it's a wonderful show and being back on the ice is so fulfilling."
'The Dancing on Ice Tour' kicks off at The SSE Arena, Wembley tonight (23.03.18).
