Paul Danan says being on ‘Celebrity Coach Trip’ was "brutal".
The former 'Hollyoaks' star – who also appeared on ‘Celebrity Love Island’ in 2005 and ‘Big Brother’ in 2017 – returned to reality TV for a new season of the European celebrity bus journey.
After enduring two years of the coronavirus pandemic and various lockdowns, Paul said that being in Portugal was “like a drug” to him, and he had to get counselling because the show tapped into "rejection".
Speaking on his podcast 'The Morning After', he said: "I had to get a bit of counselling.
"It taps into a lot of stuff – like rejection. It’s brutal.
"You’ve got to be thick-skinned, they’re not your mates.
"They do just leave you, there’s a producer who says, ‘OK, what time do you want your flight home?”
Boarding the bus alongside 43-year-old Paul was former 'X Factor’ star Honey G, Geordie Shore’s Sophie Kasaei and James Tindale, as well as ‘Love Island’ winners Paige Turley and Finn Tapp.
The show, which was filmed all over Portugal in September, saw Brendan Sheerin, 62, step back into his role as tour guide.
‘Birds of a Feather’ actress Linda Robson, 63, who was also part of the line-up, previously teased that she and her pal Lesley Joseph, 76, had done well.
She said: "I've just done 'Celebrity Coach Trip' we were touring all around Portugal with Lesley Joseph.
"I can't tell you who won but there were Olympians and everything in there as well. The two old birds did well though, I tell ya…"
