On January 5th, 2022, Disney+ revealed the trailer and poster for upcoming drama Pam & Tommy, which will air on the popular streaming service in early February of this year.
Disney+ tends to offer a lot of family friendly movies and shows, but come February, the service will be adding something rather risqué to its roster as an original limited series.
Pam & Tommy will debut on the streaming platform under the Star banner, and will tell the story of Pamela Anderson (Lily James, Baby Driver) and Tommy Lee’s (Sebastian Stan, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) adult home movie.
The series will be set during some of the earliest days of the internet, and will portray the tale of Pam and Tommy’s clandestine sex tape which was stolen from their home by a resentful contractor (Seth Rogen, Bad Neighbours).
After the video was taken, it went from under-the-radar VHS curiosity, to a full-blown and well-known global sensation once it debuted in 1997.
Pam & Tommy is set to be a love story mixed with criminal chaos that sent the world into a state of shock.
The forthcoming limited series will consist of eight parts that will explore the boundaries of privacy, technology and the lives of celebrities; it will trace the origins of the current reality TV era to one stolen tape that was seen by millions, but was meant for the eyes of only two...
Pam & Tommy will be executive produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee at Point Grey, with Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle and Ali Krug at Annapurna.
The series is written by executive producers Rob Siegel and DV DeVincentis, and directed by executive producer Craig Gillespie. Dylan Sellers, Dave Franco, Chip Vucelich and Sarah Gubbins also serve as executive producers.
It seems that Pam & Tommy will explore the obsession behind celebrities, and why people sometimes feel the need to cross social boundaries and capture moments that aren’t theirs to take.
Pam & Tommy will premiere on Disney+ on February 2nd, 2022 with the first three episodes; the remaining five will release weekly.
