Nick Pickard won't have any 'Hollyoaks' scenes with his on-screen dad any time "soon".
The 44-year-old actor's alter ego, Tony Hutchinson, is currently being held captive by Breda McQueen (Moya Brady) and it seems he won't be returning to the village for a while as the show stalwart has confirmed he won't be sharing the screen with Joe McGann - who will make his first appearance as surgeon Edward Hutchinson in the autumn - in the near future.
Asked what's next for Tony, he said: "There's still lots more to come with this Breda story. We know Tony's alive but he's certainly not safe from her.
"We've got Joe McGann coming in as Tony's dad too - I've not worked with him yet and I don't think that there's any plans to do that soon."
'Hollyoaks' shocked viewers last week when they originally thought Killer McQueen had claimed her latest victim in Tony and Nick admitted he was worried some fans might have been glad to see the back of him.
He told Inside Soap magazine: "You never know how these things are going to go.
"There was outrage that Parry (Glasspool, who played Tony's son Harry Thompson) went, but I didn't know how people would react when they thought Tony was dead.
"Some might have thought, 'Thank God.' "
While it's currently unclear how long Breda's reign of terror will continue, Nick hopes the chef is the one to finally bring her down.
He said: "I hope Tony brings her to justice for the sake of his son Harry.
"I definitely want Tony to be the one who gets her in the end. But you'll have to wait and see..."
