On March 30th, 2022, Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Dune) will make his debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Moon Knight, one of Marvel’s most interesting characters.
A new clip was released yesterday (March 14th, 2022) from upcoming Marvel and Disney+ series, Moon Knight, which appears to be a dark, emotional and thrilling show.
Moon Knight follows Steven Grant (Isaac), a nice-enough gift shop employee, who begins to experience troubling memory lapses and blackouts, which allow his true identity to creep back into his mind.
Steven begins to remember his time as U.S. Marine turned mercenary, Marc Spector, which forces the already confused Steven to come to terms and try to deal with his mental health condition, known as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).
Isaac himself has said that the series intends to take his character’s mental health concerns seriously, and will explore what DID is, what it can do, and what effect it has on people.
The recently-released clip, which is only three seconds long, highlights the things Steven faces as Moon Knight, as well as reflections of his other selves.
Steven meets Marc ‘face-to-face' and demands to know “what” he is, to which Marc asks him if he’s sure he wants to know the answer. This seems like a warning to Steven, as he is about to learn things about himself that he may wish he could keep hidden.
The short teaser shows Steven’s struggles as he discovers more and more about himself, and about who Moon Knight really is.
As we have come to expect from Marvel over the years, Moon Knight looks incredible, and it’s clear from just this new clip alone, that the upcoming series will be unmissable.
Marvel’s TV series have gone down very well with audiences, and with Hawkeye, the last show to debut on Disney+, ending at the end of December with fairly positive reviews, fans can hardly wait to meet a new member of the MCU.
The show seems to be teasing a darker, more serious story than other TV titles which, by the looks of the trailers, will work very well.
Isaac will be joined by Ethan Hawke (Training Day) as Arthur Harrow, the series’ villain, as well as May Calamawy (Ramy), as a woman from Marc’s past, and F. Murray Abraham lends his voice to the show as Khonshu, the Egyptian god that grants Marc his mysterious powers.
Moon Knight, the upcoming six-part series, is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 30th, 2022.
Ever since hearing about Moon Knight, I’ve been excited to learn more about not only the forthcoming series, but about Moon Knight himself.
Moon Knight is set to be an intriguing show, to say the least, and I cannot wait to see Isaac in this role. DID is a condition which people should pay more attention to, and I’m interested to see how Marvel portrays a character with this.
I’m also looking forward to see Moon Knight’s origin story, skills, and personality, as he is unlike any Marvel character we’ve seen before.
I expect there will be some interesting culture and stories within the new series, and I’m counting down the days until I can find out just what Moon Knight has in store.
