Marc Maron has reportedly been cast alongside Owen Wilson in an upcoming golf show.
The podcaster and comic, 60, will star with the Hollywood actor, 55, in the as yet untitled series for Apple TV+, according to Variety.
It was originally announced in March with Owen in the lead role, and Peter Dager, 32, also set to star in the show.
Owen will feature as Pryce Cahill – billed as “an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago”.
Variety added about the character and plot: “After (Pryce) gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom (played by Peter Dager.)”
Marc will apparently star as Mitts, Pryce’s best friend and former caddy, with Apple reportedly giving the show a 10-episode order.
The comic has previously starred in Netflix’s ‘Easy’ comedy-drama, as well as his own TV show and the critically-acclaimed series ‘GLOW’.
His autobiographical ‘Maron’ show ran for four seasons on IFC.
Marc has also had a string of roles in big-budget films, including ‘To Leslie’, ‘The Bad Guys’ and ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’.
His stand-up shows have been theatre and TV hits, with his latest live special – ‘Marc Maron: From Bleak to Dark’ showing on HBO in 2023.
He is also famed as the host of the long-running hit podcast ‘WTF with Marc Maron’, which has landed guests including Barack Obama.
Jason Keller is the creator of the upcoming golf show, and will serve as its executive producer.
Variety said Owen will also executive produce, while Ben Silverman from Propagate Content also executive produces along with Howard T Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady, Piece of Work’s Lee Eisenberg and Natalie Sandy, Chris Moynihan, and Bill Callahan.
The publication added Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris will direct.
