Maisie Smith has landed an exciting new role in a gangster film.
The former 'EastEnders' star has been given a major career boost after signing up to appear in 'Bermondsey Tales: Fall Of The Roman Empire' playing a Chloe who is said to be a leading player in a mobster family opposite 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' actor Alan Ford and 'Kidulthood''s Adam Deacon.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Maisie has secured her first big film role and shooting will begin later this year. It is an exciting new venture for Maisie and she can’t wait to dip her toe into a big new project.
"Since 'Strictly' and 'EastEnders' she has kept her eyes open for her next on-screen job and the people behind 'Bermondsey Tales' thought Maisie was the perfect fit."
The film is slated to start shooting later this year and 21-year-old Maisie will reportedly join the cast in the summer when she finishes work on stage show 'Strictly Ballroom: The Musical'.
Maisie previously made her feature film debut at the age of four when she appeared as a young Elizabeth I in 2008 film 'The Other Boleyn Girl' opposite Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch and Scarlett Johansson.
She went on to land the role of Tiffany Butcher in 'EastEnders' when she was just six - staying with the show for more than a decade before walking away in 2022.
Maisie previously insisted she will be happy to return to 'EastEnders' in the future if soap bosses ever want her back.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "The moment I left they said to me 'We're so excited to see what you're going to do, but you're always welcome to come back and reunite the family' - and I said, 'Absolutely!'
"I said if they ever need me, just call me. I have so much family there with cast and the crew, I don't think anyone ever really leaves. That's what is nice about 'EastEnders'. You always have a place there."
