The 40-year-old actress has admitted her life hasn't been "easy" since she developed the crippling illness - a common condition where small pieces of the womb lining are found outside the womb - and really feels for the US singer Halsey, who is currently recuperating following a series of operations to treat the medical issue.

Taking to her Twitter account this week, Kate shared an article about Halsey undergoing the operation and wrote: "I suffer from this it's not easy (sic)."

It's not known whether Kate has also gone under the knife to fix the issue.

Endometriosis is a long-term chronic condition that affects an estimated 2 million women in the UK aged between 25 and 40. Symptoms vary from person to person but the most common signs include painful or heavy periods, pain in the lower abdomen, pain during and after sex and bleeding between periods, and one of the main complications of endometriosis is difficulty getting pregnant or infertility.

Kate - who has never opened up about her battle with the condition before - has nine-year-old son Otis with her ex-husband TV producer Jon Connerty.

The couple got married in 2007 but announced their separation in September 2013.

She said at the time: "When Jon and I first parted it was quite hard to put my personal life aside. But then it became therapeutic to concentrate on my job. People call it 'Doctor Theatre' - when you're acting, you can't worry about things."
