Jourdan Riane has called for social media users to be "more aware" of what they're saying following previous 'Love Island' tragedies - as Danny Williams admits he's received "really horrid" abuse since leaving the villa.

The pair's relationship has grown stronger since they departed the ITV2 dating show, but Danny has been subjected to a number of negative comments by trolls, and insists the abuse could've led to a "really bad" situation if he wasn't the kind of person to not be "bothered by it".

Speaking about the trolling, he said: "It's been really horrid. Luckily, I'm not the kind of character to be affected by negativity, but if I was it could've been really bad.

"Unfortunately, there's been some people on the internet who have been really mean, but we're not the kind of people to get bothered by it."

And Jourdan believes people need to start thinking more carefully about the content of their social media messages.

Speaking on 'Lorraine', she said: "We kind of just live with it. But I just think people are just unaware of how harsh words can sometimes be.

"Obviously in the past, from negativity, certain things have happened to people from the show, and I think people should be a little bit more aware of what they're saying."

A number of stars and members of the public called for 'Love Island' to be axed ahead of this year's series following the deaths of former Islanders Mike Thalassitis, 26, and Sophie Gradon, 32.

Last month, it was revealed 'Love Island' bosses warn Islanders there are "potential downsides" about appearing on the programme, such as "negative comments on social media", in a 27-page contract.

Part of it reads: "Taking part in 'Love Island' will hopefully be a very positive experience for you. However, when you resume your regular life, there are potential downsides to be aware of.

"If you're hoping that you will become famous by taking part in the show, there are no guarantees that this will happen. This is a dating show where the main goal is to find love.

"You may find yourself in the public spotlight in ways that you didn't anticipate, including press interest and negative comments on social media. You could become famous but then find that the public quickly loses interest.

"Your family and friends, as well as your past actions, may also become the subject of negative press attention."
