John Barrowman has joined 'Holby City'.
The 'Torchwood' star will appear as Scottish surgeon Drew Nicholson-Heath on the medical drama later this spring, and he is delighted with his character's "fabulous" motor.
He wrote on Instagram: "Super excited to introduce you to someone new..His name is Drew, he's a Surgeon he's #Scottish and will be on your screens this Spring. @bbcholbycity @bbcone is he good or bad?? You will want to tune in to find out. Oh yeah he also drives a #fabulous car. Jb (sic)"
John's guest appearance on the show was teased in the programme's spring trailer.
In the clip when asked what he is doing at the hospital, global recruiter Drew says: "Slumming it, I guess."
John added in a statement: "Being part of another iconic BBC drama is just fabulous.
"I was welcomed with open arms by the cast and crew and felt like part of the 'Holby City' family right away.
"My character Drew brings a new flavour to the show and I look forward to his return soon. Surgery will never be the same again."
News of John's 'Holby' casting comes a couple of months after he returned to 'Doctor Who' to reprise his role as Captain Jack Harkness, who was last seen on the programme in 2010, and in spin-off show 'Torchwood' in 2011.
Speaking about his comeback before the episode aired, John said: "It feels absolutely amazing. I've always been holding the torch to eventually bring Jack back, because I know the love that the fanbase and the Whovians around the world have for him.
"Without giving too much of the story away, it's the same Jack you know. He's flirtatious, he's sassy, he's also determined. So Hallelujah - Jack is back!"
