Jeremy Edwards would've returned to 'Hollyoaks' in April if coronavirus hadn't intervened in the soap's schedule.
The 49-year-old actor will be back from the dead as his character Kurt Benson on tonight's (21.10.20) E4 episode after he was thought to have been killed off in a jet ski accident in 1999, and Jeremy has revealed the Channel 4 show's bosses approached him back in September 2019 to see if he would be up for returning.
He said: "I was very, very happy when they asked me if I would consider coming back. I never thought he'd died, I just thought he'd gone missing.
"I was asked last September, so just over a year ago.
"I would've been making an appearance earlier, but because of the whole Covid thing everyone had to stand down for a while.
"I would've been back in April time.
"For a moment I thought I wasn't going to make it back.
"I love the show so much, and it was something I couldn't say no to.
"It's so wonderful to be back. It's a fantastic place to work."
Jeremy regularly appeared scantily-clad as Kurt back in the day, and things don't appear to have changed too much, despite the former 'Holby City' star admitting shirt-less scenes should be left to the younger cast members.
Speaking on 'Loose Women', he added: "I did wonder how long it would be until I opened the script and it said, 'Kurt comes out bare-chested.'
"It was only on the third episode on my return. I was like, 'Come on, man. I'm 50 next year. Give me a break. Leave it to the young ones.' "
Kurt will ride back into the village on his motorbike on the soap's special birthday episode tonight, to mark the show's 25th anniversary.
