Jason Donovan wants to avoid certain lifts on 'Dancing On Ice' to prevent injury.
The 52-year-old singer and actor is part of this year's celebrity figure skating competition, but he admitted he's worried about the impact getting hurt could have on his career after a difficult year already.
He told OK! Magazine: "My wife is worried about me getting injured, and so am I.
"If you've had a year like 2020 and you haven't really been earning and everything shifts to 2021 and you suddenly find yourself in A&E with a broken arm or leg, it doesn't bode well for cash flow.
"It's not worth anyone's year for me to be injured, so I have to be careful."
Although the former 'Neighbours' star knows show bosses will be looking for certain things from the contestants on the ice, he isn't willing to risk anyone's safety.
He explained: "With a show like this the producers will pish you because they want good TV.
"But you have to say if you're not sure about something, and say you're not going to risk yourself or your partner's safety for the sake of a good TV moment.
"I won't be doing lifts if they put me in a silly place."
There have already been a number of incidents with people getting hurt in rehearsals for the new series, and Denise van Outen was recently rushed to hospital after suffering a painful shoulder injury.
The 46-year-old actress took a tumble on the ice while rehearsing at the ITV show's rink at Bovingdon Airfield, Hertfordshire, earlier in the week before her debut on Sunday (17.01.21).
An X-ray showed Denise dislocated her left shoulder and caused damage to her tendons.
She revealed: “I’ve taken a few tumbles since we started training but with this one I knew immediately it wasn’t good.
“I was rehearsing with Matt, hit my toe pick and went flying.
“Straightaway I knew I’d done something. I just thought, ‘Please don’t let it be a break.’
“The on-site medics and physio checked me over immediately and my shoulder was quickly iced.”
