Heartstopper is set to arrive on the streaming platform in Spring this year (2022), and will have eight 30-minute episodes that tell the story of how love and romance fits into everyone’s lives, no matter who you are.

Heartstopper is an LGBTQ+ series that is based on a webcomic and graphic novel of the same name, which was written by Alice Oseman.

Coming-of-age stories are a wonderful basis for a show such as this one; there are countless ways to tell the narrative, and almost none of them the same.

The series is set to follow Charlie (Joe Locke), who meets Nick (Kit Connor), a rugby-loving boy at his secondary school; the boys quickly realise that they’re meant to be friends, but they soon come to terms with the fact that they’re destined to be even more than that.

Charlie and Nick, along with their close-knit circle of friends, are forced to traverse the complexity that is adolescence and adulthood; luckily, they’ve got each other to get through it.

Heartstopper will be an emotional, uplifting journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and realisation; the group must support one another as they all head through one of the toughest times in their lives so far.

Along with Locke and Connor, the cast also includes Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Sebastian Croft, as well as Tobie Donovan and Rhea Norwood.

The first look images for the show have been released, and may potentially be followed by a trailer in the weeks to come. The images showcase the cast of the series, who already look to be brilliantly in character.

Filming for the show began on location in April of last year (2021), and was said to have finished shooting by June of the same year; the crew were reportedly seen in Herne Bay during production.

Heartstopper is set to hit Netflix later in 2022.
