Hayley Tamaddon's injured leg "coped pretty well" when she took to the ice for the first time since tearing her calf muscle.

The 'Dancing on Ice' star has taken to Twitter to reassure her fans and the show's supporters that her leg is on the mend, and she paid tribute to her physiotherapist for helping her through the pain after she picked up the injury on the weekend.

She tweeted: "just done 2 hours skating and the leg coped pretty well! Only a few niggles! Thanks to the best Physio ever! @BhamPhysioLtd (sic)"

Fortunately it wasn't the 36-year-old brunette's turn to skate in last weekend's show so she managed to give her leg some much-needed rest, however, the 'Coronation Street' actress - who plays Andrea Beckett in the ITV soap - admitted the injury has hampered her preparations for this weekend's show.

Last night (13.01.14), she tweeted: "Right.I need to sleep..Gonna put the skates on tomorrow morning and see how the leg copes! Lots of catching up to do! #toughcompetition #DOI (sic)"

Hayley was under "strict instructions" to let her leg recuperate over the weekend and swapped the ice for some relaxation time on her sofa.

In a tweet on Saturday (11.01.14), she wrote: "Sat watching despicable me 2 with a glass of red and my leg elevated as high as I can get it!! Had strict instructions to not use it!

"Thanks for all your lovely tweets.. Injuries are normal in skating..I'll get over it! I'm sure they'll be more to come! #smiling #positive (sic)"

Since telling her fans about the injury Hayley has been inundated with messages of support but always remained confident her leg would be back to normal in no time.

She wrote: "Good job It's not my turn to skate this weekend.. A few days recovery for me!

"It won't take long to heal guys, we have the best physio's ever looking after us at #DOI ! (sic)"

She tweeted shortly afterwards: "So after 2 hours with the amazing @BhamPhysioLtd The verdict is a tear in the calf muscle. It's only small.. A few days rest,I'll be fine! X (sic)"

Following news of her injury, Hayley's odds of winning the competition with bookmakers Paddy Power have drifted out from 5/1 to 6/1, but she remains third favourite behind Suzanne Shaw (7/2) and Ray Quinn (5/6).

A Paddy Power spokesperson said: "The punters and viewers have got right behind her and now Suzanne's sure to go all the way to the final."
