Game of Thrones writer George RR Martin has revealed that another one of his novels is going to be turned into a television series, this time with a supernatural twist on things with his 1980s story The Skin Trade receiving a script order from Cinemax.

The network revealed the show's synopsis, which reads: "A collections agent who happens to be a werewolf and his friend, a private investigator, discover a dark secret behind a series of grisly murders in their decaying industrial city."

The Hollywood Reporter adds that Martin has "always thought there was a TV series" in the story, going on to suggest there could be a lot of ground to tread going forwards with the concept.

Martin will executive produce the series alongside Mark B Newbauer, Kalinda Vazquez, Vince Gerardis, Rich Angell, Lisandro Cruz and Vince Gerardist.

Vasquez will also take script writing duties, with Martin praising the decision on his blog: "Kalinda's take on the story and the characters blew me away."

He continued: "She loves the story and the world, and really seems to get Willie and Randi, and her pitch to Cinemax was one of the most polished and professional I've ever heard. I love her enthusiasm, and look forward to working with her."

The author also explained that he couldn't write the script himself due to his commitment in finishing the next novel in the Song of Ice and Fire series.
