Gemma Oaten has teased that she's set to get her contract extended on 'Holby City'.
The 32-year-old actress received rave reviews when she made her debut as agency nurse Sydney Somers in the medical drama last week and has hinted that there may be an opportunity for her loveable alter ego to make a return to the hospital wards.
She told the Express.co.uk: "I'd love to be a regular. From the feedback that I had [it sounds positive] but you've just got to leave it in the hands of the Gods, I suppose."
And, although she only made her entrance last week, Nurse Somers has already managed to ruffle a few feathers on the ward - particularly Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw).
And it looks like things are only set to get more heated between the co-workers.
She explained: "Expect Fletch to be absolutely gobsmacked when Sydney does walk back into the ward. As far as he's aware she's got no more shifts there."
The former 'Emmerdale' star - who was known for playing tracksuit-loving mother Rachel Breckle in the ITV soap - announced she was making a guest appearance in the medical drama last year when she uploaded a photograph from her first date of set.
Taking to her Twitter account just after she arrived on set, the brunette beauty uploaded a photograph of her dressing room with her name on it and accompanied it with the caption: "Hello #holbycity Feeling one of the luckiest & loving every minute! Can't say anything more #happy #actress #dreambig (sic)"
Gemma isn't the first person from 'Emmerdale' to join a medical drama as her former co-star Chelsea Halfpenny now has a permanent role in 'Casualty'.
The 25-year-old actress appeared in the popular show, which is set in the same hospital as 'Holby City', last year as trainee doctor Alicia Munroe before her alter ego fled the department as she felt bullied by consultant Lily Chao (Crystal Yu).
She then returned to the hospital this year after her parents divorced and she has certainly made her mark on the male staff thus far.
