Gemma Oaten has joined 'Coronation Street'.
The former 'Emmerdale' actress has swapped the Dales for the cobbles, and her new character, Isla Haywood, is partly inspired by pop singer Cheryl.
Gemma - who played Rachel Breckle in 'Emmerdale' from 2011 to 2015 - said: "The moment I read the break down I was like, 'Oh my God this is brilliant.'
"One of the descriptions was, 'Isla is the kind of girl who will pay to go on a coach to Marbella just to be seen but actually she's going to Fuerteventura.
"The other part of it was, 'Cheryl Cole before she got spruced up,' which I thought was hilarious.
"So I thought I'm getting the gist here so I put my slap on for the self-tape and put on a tarty, fashionable-type top and went for it."
Gemma's character Isla is a new love interest for Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall).
The star admitted she felt nervous when she first stepped foot in the 'Corrie' studios, but she was glad to be working alongside Alan.
She added: "When I found out I got it, I was on the train and my agent called. I was so excited but I couldn't tell anyone.
"'Corrie' is a national institution and I've watched it since I was a kid.
"My heart was in my mouth when I walked in. Going on the cobbles was surreal.
"I was petrified, but Alan Halsall was there with a big grin. He was a dream to work with and just so easy to talk to."
Isla will meet Tyrone when their daughters, Darcy and Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan), attend the same party.
