Freeman Agyeman would only come back to Doctor Who as Martha Jones "if there was some sort of development of the character".
The actress appeared from 2006 to 2010 in the popular series and admits that she would consider a return, but only under the right circumstances.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz she explained: "It's something I would consider, but if I'm honest, I'd only really do it if there was some sort of development of the character.
"I loved the show - it's brilliant - but I thought there were more things we could have done with Martha. She was this strong women, but I thought we got bogged down in the love story side of things."
Since leaving the show Freema's appeared in The Carrie Diaries and now splits her time between the UK and America, seeking out exciting and challenging job opportunities.
"I spend half my time in the US and half in the UK. I'm doing more stuff over there just because the industry is so huge in the US. There are so many opportunities for work.
"It's the case that I go where the work and the best opportunities are, and I've been lucky to have been offered so many exciting and different parts."
Now she's starring in audio-drama Six Degrees of Assassination.
