Netflix, the world’s largest streaming service, has recently released the teaser art and first look images for a brand-new, tension filled series, Stay Close.
This December (2021) will see the arrival of a new series that is set to test us. It will lead not only us to question what we know, who we know. The characters seem to be heading towards a crisis of trust; will their secrets be revealed?
Three separate people are living different, comfortable lives; except the fact that each one of them has a hidden secret looming over them that even those they hold closest to them would never believe.
Megan (Cush Jumbo) is a working mother of three; Ray (Richard Armitage) is stuck in a directionless job and has celebrity-obsessed children, despite being a former documentary photographer; and Broome (James Nesbitt) is a detective who cannot let go of a missing person's cold case.
Despite their lives moving forward, their past comes back to haunt them, and not only are their everyday lives are threatened, but the lives of those they love are in danger too.
What will be their next move?
Stay Close boasts an intriguing narrative, with three characters who all differ from one another; aside from their deep, dark secrets, of course.
Jumbo, who plays Megan in the upcoming series, may be known among audiences as playing Lois Habiba in BBC’s third season of Torchwood, titled Children of Earth.
Richard Armitage, who is playing Ray in the new series, has an impressive claim to fame, as he played Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit trilogy, alongside Martin Freeman who played the iconic Bilbo Baggins.
Another The Hobbit actor is also involved with Stay Close; James Nesbitt, who plays Broome in this exciting series, lent his skills to the character of Bofur in the trilogy that served as prequels to the legendary The Lord of the Rings movies.
With an impressive lead cast and a nail-biting, thrilling plot, Stay Close has all the tools for an interesting and captivating show. While the first look images only really showcase the actors in-character, there is no doubt that when a trailer for the show is revealed, interest from audiences will only increase.
Stay Close will span eight 45-minute episodes, and arrives on Netflix on December 31st, 2021.
