Emma Atkins always has "amazing fun" when her 'Emmerdale' character Charity Dingle goes off the rails.
The 45-year-old actress - who first played bad girl Charity from 2000 to 2005 and has been back in the Yorkshire Dales since 2009 - admits she always gets excited when she gets a script that sees Charity returning to her troublemaking ways.
In her latest storyline, Emma's alter ego has fallen out with her son Noah and done the unthinkable by sleeping with her daughter Debbie Dingle's ex-boyfriend Al Chapman.
The soap star thinks this is the lowest that Charity has sunk in all her years playing the bisexual character in the ITV series.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, she said: "When I get my scripts, I think back to all that she has done over the years. For instance, 'Has Charity done anything worse than this? And is it redeemable?' But I'm not sure, I think Charity's sunk as low as she can go [this time]."
Emma loves playing Charity because the danger addict is so different to what she's like as a person in real life.
She added: "It's amazing fun, I feel so bloody lucky! She's addicted to danger, and thank God in real life I'm not! But that makes it more fun to play, as in comparison I'm quite boring!"
