Maisie Smith has suggested Tiffany Butcher-Baker’s insecurities are the reason she's so “obsessed” with her appearance.
The 'EastEnders' actress - who first joined the BBC soap in 2008 - has opened up on her character's current storyline as she struggles with body image and even goes behind her husband Keegan Baker’s (Zack Morris) back to pay for more cosmetic surgery.
She told Digital Spy: "She's an 18 year old, she's been through a lot as a character and she's quite insecure about herself.
"Then Keegan's job has been taking off, he's really been doing well for himself and it's making Tiffany question herself and if she's enough for him."
And the 20-year-old soap star is glad her alter ego is on screen to represent the realities and experiences of "a normal teenager".
She explained: ""She's a very relatable character on the show.
"She's young, she's in love, and she's got a lot of pressure on her as well as being a teenager and being hormonal and experiencing what a normal teenager would experience."
But Maisie suggested having an allergic reaction to fillers could be “the final straw” for Tiffany's cosmetic procedure obsession.
She said: "Now she has an infection I don't think that she'll want to do it again. That was the final straw.
“She had a lot of people say you don’t need it, you’re absolutely fine, you’re perfect but realistically if you have a problem with yourself, anyone can tell you that you look beautiful but you’re not going to believe it yourself."
While Maisie joined the show's cast when she was just six years old, she previously has admitted to being overly-confident during her initial try out for the part.
Speaking last year, she said: "When I first auditioned, I was quite a cocky little minx. I strutted in there, chucked the lines on the side and went, 'Guys, I know them'. They were like, 'This is the one.' "
