Maisie Smith has admitted Milly Zero and Zack Morris were worried about backlash over their characters' affair.
The 'EastEnders' actress admitted the storyline which sees her alter ego Tiffany Butcher-Baker discover her husband Keegan Baker (Morris) has cheated on her with half-cousin cousin Dotty (Zero) while they're all living in the same house.
She said: "I've spoken about it with Milly (Zero) and Zack (Morris), they were like, 'Oh no we're going to get so much hate'.
“Especially since the audience get to see the story from Tiffany's perspective as well.
"Keegan is acting out of anger but he's unaware of what Tiffany's actually going through.
"Whereas the audience is completely aware of the pain that she's had to suffer for the past few weeks."
The 20-year-old actress has opened up about how the bombshell impacted her character.
She added: "I think immediately she goes to laugh when Vinny tells her, because it was just the most unbelievable thing that someone could have told her that one of her close friends, her half-cousin no less, has just slept with her husband and that they all live in the same house!
"She thought it must be a joke because it was absolutely incomprehensible.
"[When] he said it was true a sudden rage overtook her and she slapped him round the face, which is not like Tiffany."
And although she hopes Tiffany will be able to eventually “forgive” her husband she suggests it will be hard to “forget what’s happened” but doubts she’ll be able to either forgive or forget when it comes to Dotty.
She said: "I don't know, it's such a massive thing to forgive but maybe in time she could but it will be so hard to forget what's happened,"
"I don't think she loves Dotty enough to forgive her for betraying her, so I think that'll be a harder relationship to rekindle."
