Taking to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, three members of the cast of Downton Abbey - Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery and Allen Leech - were tasked with giving characters from the show an American accent whilst reading out some actual dialogue from a scene in which financial difficulties were discussed.
Colbert explained that some of the attraction of the British show comes through its accents, and so he wanted to see people 'brought back down to Earth' after hearing it in tones that might be more familiar to an American audience.
Michelle hammed it up as the stereotypical ditzy female, whilst Allen also leaned toward a camp US stereotype, but Hugh's impression was pretty convincing.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights in the US on CBS.
