The 'Doctor Who' series finale will give answers about the Timeless Child.
Chris Chibnall has opened up about what fans can expect from the upcoming two-parter - 'Ascension of the Cybermen' and 'The Timeless Children' - and how the last episode in particular is an "emotional" end to season 12.
He told Doctor Who Magazine: "I can't tell you anything about this episode. The Timeless Child is mentioned as far back as 'The Ghost Monument' [in 2018], and the final episode of this series is where some of those questions get answered.
"It's a huge, emotional finale with lots of Cybermen. And it runs for 65 minutes. It's both epic, and personal.
"This is what you're always looking for in a series finale - the way the big, universe-threatening story impacts on the personal lives of your characters. And categorically that's what's happening in this episode."
Meanwhile, the BBC programme's showrunner revealed 'Ascension of the Cybermen' will perfectly set up the powerful finale.
He added: "The nightmare is how do you escape [the Cybermen]? Because they're around every corner and they just won't stop.
"The humans are desperate and the Cybermen just keep going... 'Ascension of the Cybermen' is one of those episodes where the Doctor and her friends are all on the run from different threats.
"We head into the next episode with the jeopardy of whether they're ever going to meet up again..."
Chris' comments come after he previously revealed the two-part spectacular will be "one of the most epic" stories that has ever been told on the show, with the storyline coming after an episode last month saw John Barrowman's Captain Jack Harkness warn the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) to "beware the lone Cyberman".
Chris teased: "It's a big, big, Cyberman story, that last two-parter. There are a lot of Cyberman coming in this series. It might start with one Cyberman, but you'll see a lot."
