With a variety of personalities and egos making up the team in DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the series already has a lot of room to get chaotic, and so fans of the DC universe will be pleased to know that whilst these characters will be travelling through time, there are rules which must be adhered to.

At New York Comic-Con 2015, cast and crew including Ciara Renee, Arthur Darvill, Brandon Routh and producer Phil Klemmer were in attendance, so screenrant.com took the opportunity to speak to Klemmer about his time travel logistical rules.

"Death means death; if you lose that, you get the kind of 'get out of jail free card.' You know, we do construct a rule on our show that if you kill me right now with a hatchet, the rest of the team can't just go on for a show, then go back in time and stop you from hitting me with the hatchet," Klemmer explained.

"Our rule is that when [you] try to interfere in events that you participated in, that creates a time paradox, and black holes, and horrible things happen. So we want to keep those tensions alive; when our characters are in moments of mortal peril, that they do have consequences - that they're not just like, 'well, it's Groundhog Day, we'll start over tomorrow'."

Though the show will be dealing with time travel, they won't also be tackling the Multiverse, with Klemmer joking it would "make my head explode".

Darvill, who plays Rip Hunter in the show was also asked about stepping into the role of the master of time travel in Legends of Tomorrow, and how it may compare to Doctor Who.

"There are different rules! I don't want to give too much away, but you know, their way of traveling is different. It has to do with the same things; the fact that history can be changed and what the responsibility of that is, is such a fascinating thing to explore. It's very different, um, I can't say too much, but it's really cool! And the first day I walked on set to see the method of time travel, I was like a kid at christmas."

No premiere date has yet been set for DC's Legends of Tomorrow, but it is expected to broadcast on The CW in early 2016.
