'Benidorm' star Crissy Rock was warned she might only have five years to live.
The 55-year-old actress agreed to have a "health MoT" for the BBC One show 'Long Live Britain' - alongside Jodie Prenger and Ricky Grover - but was reduced to tears after medics told her the sickening news that she could be putting her life in danger unless she urgently changes her lifestyle and diet.
The star - who beat cancer of the womb 13 years ago - was told she had Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and an echo in her heart, which could lead to her having a fatal heart attack or stroke.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: "I always thought of myself as fit, so I was shocked. I felt like a walking time bomb. I sobbed my eyes out.
"When Dr Phil told me he didn't expect me to live beyond five to ten years, I started panicking about what my children would do.
"But after a couple of days, it made me more determined than ever. I felt relieved that I had found out. In retrospect, it's the best thing I have ever done."
Crissy - who lost her mother and father after they suffered a stroke - admits she'd like to live until she's at least 80, so has ditched the cigarettes.
She explained: "I smoked 20 to 30 cigarettes a day.
"I started in my mid-twenties and smoked ever since. I decided to stop there and then. I put patches all over me but it was so hard.
"I was crying, I was agitated, screaming, biting everyone's heads off. The urge for wanting a cigarette never goes but I try to get through each day.
"I've got vaporised cigarettes now."
She added: "The stress of giving up cigarettes was awful - but it is all worth it."
