Claire King has landed a temporarily role in 'Casualty'.
The 54-year-old actress only turned her back on 'Coronation Street' a month ago but she's wasted no time bagging another part in a soap as she's set to appear in the medical drama as Caryl, the long-suffering mother of a crack addict, for a month.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "BBC bosses were excited to cast Claire in the role as she's a great talent and, although it's just a one-time part, they could count on her to really get her teeth into it."
Her new job comes weeks after the blonde beauty admitted she had quit the ITV soap, which she starred in for three years, because she didn't like the route bosses were taking her alter-ego Erica Holroyd.
She said: "I thought she was a natural character, and a natural 'Coronation Street' character.
"And she then started changing a bit and she had no family, she was a bit of a pinball just moving about. I just thought right, this isn't the character that originally started."
Although it's not yet known what Claire will do once her role in 'Casualty' has wrapped up, she recently teased that there's a chance she could return to 'Emmerdale' as Kim Tate - a part she played for 10 years until 1999 - because the door was left open for her.
She told BANG Showbiz recently: "The door isn't closed, it's still left ajar. I didn't die last time so there's always a chance of that. I mean it's a different generation now, it's a generation on, obviously her son would be early twenties now, who knows."
Many of Claire's storylines revolved around her alter ego's volatile, turbulent marriage to Frank Tate (Norman Bowler), who she watched die without doing anything to help him, as well as embarking on two affairs and her ill-fated marriage to second husband Steve Marchant (Paul Opacic).
