The former 'Coronation Street' star - who previously played Marcus Dent on the ITV soap - has been suffering with "incredible pain" in his arm and has lost the use of his thumb and forefinger since Christmas Eve (24.12.20), and as a result he is concerned the issue could be related to coronavirus.

He wrote on Twitter: "I’ve been suffering from something that is looking more and more like long Covid since October, but since Christmas Eve I’ve had incredible pain in my arm and have lost the use of my thumb/forefinger. Has anyone heard of nerve damage related to COVID-19? (sic)"

Some people who have tested positive for coronavirus have seen their symptoms last weeks or months, even after the infection has gone.

Symptoms include joint pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dizziness and extreme tiredness.

The NHS advises people to contact a GP if they are worried about symptoms four weeks or more after having coronavirus.

Charlie's concern comes just weeks after 'Corrie' actor Charlie De Melo (Imran Habeeb) revealed he has donated his plasma to help coronavirus sufferers.

He wrote on Instagram: "Despite my best (continuing) efforts, I had COVID-19 at some point last year. No idea when, where or how. I am extremely fortunate to not even have noticed the dreadful b******.

"@givebloodnhs are looking for people who've had COVID-19 to donate their Plasma to help treat those currently suffering with it.

"If you've had a positive COVID or Antibody Test and you are able to donate blood, please do. You could well be saving somebody's life. It's easy, painless and the staff at Norfolk House in Manchester, where I donate, are absolute gems and will take very good care of you.

"( Its a safe assumption that theyre all just as wonderful up and down the country). Plus they give you Kit Kats and Squash and let's be honest, you could do with a day out, eh? (sic)"
