The 'Downton Abbey' actress split from her actor husband of 11 years before Christmas and now Amy, 40, has reportedly asked for a divorce.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "She’s told him she wants a divorce. She’s been publicly humiliated and the pain has been unbearable.

"Now she’s decided to take back control again and plan her own future.

"She’s going down the legal route and will get everything she’s entitled to.”

Following the split, Amy's 44-year-old husband Andrew Buchan was said to be living with his 40-year-old BBC One ‘Better’ co-star Leila Farzad.

However, it has now been reported that their relationship has ended and Leila has reconciled with her husband James Maizels.

The insider added: “They seem to want to make another go at it — they’re wearing wedding rings again and spending time together to rebuild.”

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Amy is in talks to compete in this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

A source explained Amy thinks the dance contest could give her the “fresh start she needs” and she’s thought to have been inspired by 39-year-old presenter Helen Skelton’s appearance on ‘Strictly’ last year after her eight-year marriage to rugby player Richie Myler, 32, ended.

The insider added: “Amy has been left broken by Andrew’s actions and feels humiliated by the whole ordeal.

“She wants to move on and not let the messy break-up define her. ‘Strictly’ would be the perfect way for her to do that and hopefully restore the confidence she is lacking right now.

“It’s not clear if everyone involved is up for it as emotions are very raw.”

Amy married actor Andrew, famed for playing Mark Latimer in ‘Broadchurch’, in 2012, and the pair have a son and daughter together.
