Alex Fletcher has to "take a deep breath" before she reads her 'Hollyoaks' scripts, because her latest plot is "exhausting".

The 44-year-old actress' character Diane Hutchinson is currently involved in an awkward love triangle between her husband Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) and his dad Edward Hutchinson (Joe McGann), but Alex loves the "brilliant and dramatic" storyline.
She said: "I'm not being funny, but it's exhausting! I wish someone would give poor Diane a break.
"I have to take a deep breath before I read my scripts these days, because I'm like, 'Oh my goodness, what's going to happen next?'
"But it's brilliant and dramatic, and I love that."
Part of the plot has seen Diane change her hair to red, and Alex opted to alter her tresses in real life rather than wear a wig - because she didn't want to be in make-up at 6am every day.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, she added: "It's given me a bit of a lift. You get sick of looking at yourself, don't you?
"I had the option of a wig, but I remember that when Anna Passey [Sienna Blake] had one, she had to be in make-up at 6am every day, and that just doesn't work when you have kids.
"I'd been a redhead before, so I knew it would suit me. It's very exciting."
Alex recently admitted she didn't believe it was her when she first looked in the mirror after changing her tresses.
She said: "I keep looking at myself and going, 'Ooh, there's me.'
"It's a big change. It's part of the story. They were like, 'Do you want a wig or do you just want to go for it?' I like it."
