The Olympics Closing Ceremony
The list of shows we all tuned in to watch this year has been released by the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board (BARB) and it seems that the incredible summer of sport we enjoyed was not to be undone, with eight out of the top ten most watched shows being sporty.
It was the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics though that drew the most viewers as they got in 24.2 and 24.5 million viewers apiece.
Coming up next on the list and the only other show to get over 20 million viewers was England’s exit from football tournament Euro 2012, with both the men’s 100m final at the Olympics and England’s match again Sweden at Euro 2012 filling out the top five viewing events.
The biggest news might be that there is only one scripted show on the list, an episode of Coronation Street shown back in January. Apart from that, sport and talent show’s dominated the list.
Expect the figures to change though come the definite publication in January with the rating rich Christmas period coming up.
