Whether sceptic or believer, Most Haunted has always been a riveting show with a fantastic concept, grasping the viewer by the neck and refuses to let up until its final moments. Fans will be excited to know that Most Haunted Live will be returning for the first time in five years this Halloween, with a three-and-a-half hour special episode presented by Rylan Clark and Jamie East.
To whet the appetites of fans, the new series of the main show kicked off in spectacular fashion, with the paranormal investigation team heading to 30 East Drive in the first of a double episode. Yvette Fielding is of course leading the way with husband Karl and some familiar faces, all hoping to find conclusive evidence that ghosts really do exist.
Things immediately begin to happen when Yvette's filming a piece to-camera, with the host claiming to see a marble come straight out of a wall and collide with her husband who is helping the cameraman film the scene. Because of the trajectory of the throw, Yvette suggests there is no way in which any human person could have sent it flying across the room - it's just a shame there wasn't a camera focused on the area in which it happened.
Simply filming the living room at another point in their preparations for the investigation, the team discover a knife pointing upwards, wedged between two sofa cushions and leaving everybody on edge. Filming in a bedroom sees an ornament thrown onto an unmade bed, and though the entire width of the room is not seen in the shot whilst the man filming is behind the camera, it's one of the most exciting bits of evidence the team has ever come across.
Before beginning their investigations and with the safety of daylight, Karl notes he's already feeling extremely nervous due to his surroundings and in one room feels a huge knock under his feet when Yvette asks whether or not the presence means them harm.
A locked off camera later captures a group of white balls moving in different directions in a bedroom, with the appearance of a shadow at the door also being shown which Yvette states was not there earlier. With the windows closed and the balls moving in more direction than one, this is again one of the best pieces of evidence a team has captured to-date.
Attempting to contact whatever spirit may or may not be in the vicinity, Yvette and Carl then use a tapping board to find out more about 'Carl Anthony', a 52-year-old priest from 1633 which had one simple message, 'GET OUT!'
As the chaos continues, marbles are moved from beds to the bottom of a flight of stairs, knocks and whispers continue and the team wonder what exactly they'd do if indeed a poltergeist became violent and attempted to stab one of the members of the team. All this before the lights are even turned off, and Karl wanders off to the first floor whilst the rest of the team wait in the kitchen.
Yvette asks whatever may be in the building to do something to Karl, and when he moves away from a door he's certain he left open, it's pushed shut and he panics - it's edge-of-your-seat television and leaves the viewer scared; exactly how it should.
With continuous action that far surpasses anything viewers will have seen before, things look to only get more eerie next week when the team continue their investigation in the genuinely scary 30 East Drive.
Most Haunted continues Sundays, 10pm on Really.
