Proving to be a huge hit with its debut season, The CW's adaptation of DC's The Flash worked as a brilliant spinoff to ongoing series Arrow as well as a platform all in itself, expanding upon the DC television universe.
Now getting its own spinoff with Legends of Tomorrow premiering on the channel next year, the series will return for a second season later this year with the show's star Grant Gustin, the man in the titular role.
Recently accepting the Breakthrough Performance Award at this year's 41st Annual Saturn Awards in Burbank, the actor offered hints about what viewers should expect from the DC universe next season.
A new main villain has been promised by Grant, with the actor saying: "A really cool 'big bad' that's going to be revealed kind of immediately", will be present.
Asked about Legends of Tomorrow, he also confirmed that Barry Allen AKA The Flash will be involved from the very start.
"I'm going to be a part of that right out of the gates as well. So I don't really know what to expect from that show yet, I don't think anybody does, but I'm excited to be a part of it. I get to be Flash on three TV shows. I was unemployed a year-and-a-half ago, so that's pretty cool."
This of course means that Flash will be cropping up again in Arrow's fourth season, but with the teasing of a new 'big bad' and a healthy void filled by Tom Cavanagh's nasty Dr. Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash, there's a lot of people who could fill that slot.
With time hopping and a multiverse all a part of the second season, a lot is possible with many villains still for the show to explore. We'll have to wait for further updates on who we should expect to see.
The Flash season 2 premieres on The CW in the fall, along with Arrow's season 4.
