Hoping to finally revive the early morning slot with another brand new format and show title as well as four fresh faces on a unique panel, ITV have done the inevitable, crashing and burning once more.
At moments they're attempting to class things up, but at the same time they want a funny and relatable essence and so things ultimately seem very confused, whilst the bottom of the entertainment barrel is truly scraped with Andi Peters' 'Wheel of Cash'. (He ended up giving away a whopping £50 to a man at Leeds market).
A desperate bid to boost launch episode viewers comes in the form of a One Direction exclusive. The teeny boppers were quite excited, spreading the news on social media and tuning in, so the job was done here already I suppose. It did rather go against their serious news agenda however - Harry Styles' love life just isn't on the top of my need to know list.
Paul O'Grady later joined the hosts for a chat about his recent heart attack, meeting George Clooney and twerking, truly gripping the nation.
They need musical guests. Ones that are actually in the flesh on the show performing live - not pre-recording discussing their private lives that many of us up at 6am onwards couldn't care less about.
They also need to decide in which direction they want to take this show. Is it serious hard-hitting news, or is it a magazine for television with showbiz gossip and cheap 'games'? Something successful cannot be every single one of these things combined together. It makes for an unpleasant mixture.
Failing to deliver on the chemistry she promised, Susanna Reid may now be regretting her channel hop. There isn't a chance this could rival BBC Breakfast and it's unfortunate that the days of GMTV seem to be dead and gone forever. That was a format and show I could truly get behind.
