With American Idol judge Simon Cowell acknowledging that American singers were better than the Brits, in reply to a viewer question, the judges all agreed with the voters bottom three when they put Syesha Mercado, Kristy Lee Cook and David Hernandez on the brink before Hernandez finaly became the first of the last twelve booted out, Syesha Mercado was the first to be put out of her misery as Ryan Seacrest told her she was safe leaving Cook Hernandez in the bottom two.Hernandez and Cook had been guilty of giving two of the three worst performances during Tuesday nights show, Mercado in all fairness was a middle singer was the unluckily the first up in the two-hour show, though interestingly David Archuleta who turned in the worse performance by far stayed out of the bottom three.Archuleta has been installed as the early favorite a title given through merit after a number of quality performances through boot camp and beyond.But his rendition of 'We Can Work It Out' could only be described as ghastly a term oft used by Mr Acid tongue Simon Cowell. Add to this the fact he forgot the lyrics during the early verses anyone making a judgement call on this performance not have wasted a phone call on him. Of the bottom two Cook is a more unique talent, but has been poor throughout somehow unable to deliver the potential promised in the early stages of the shows, Hernandez however is a more polished performer but has an average voice and not much of a range, so on reflection the voting audience got it spot on, though Cook is going to have to turn in a fantastic performance next week if she is to continue. .The length of the twelve finalist show adds to the likelyhood of someone talented slipping out of site and off the show, which seemed to be the problem Syesha Mercado suffered from, a talented who has still to connected with the audience and Tuesday night performed over an hour and three quarters before the voting couls start.

During a piece of pure theatre Jim Carrey who was in the audience dressed as an elephant promoting 'Horton Hears a Who!' the shows main sponsorscaused and interesting diversion, and explained why the shows are so long, they have to fit in all the sponsor time.
