With Orange is the New Black back for a third season, we decided to take a look back at some of the creepiest characters spawned from prison dramas in existence. Take a look at our list and let us know if you agree with our choices...

Orange is the New Black's George 'Pornstache' Mendez

Hideous but at the same time a little alluring (it must be the moustache, it worked for Brendan Brady in Hollyoaks as well), Mendez is just another prison officer with a power complex who isn't afraid of stepping on a few toes and using the criminals in his prison complex to further his own personal gain.

We're a little sad that Pablo Schreiber hasn't returned for the third season of Orange is the New Black, but his presence is still felt with the addition of his on-screen mother. It'd be nice to see him turn up a little further down the road, perhaps a changed man, but with the storyline he's tangled up in, his return is likely to be anything but nice...

Prison Break's Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell

With brilliant portrayal from Robert Knepper, T-Bag has had a rough past which has made for a scary future for a man who's causing trouble for most of his life, and doesn't have any qualms about using fellow inmates for sexual satisfaction, becoming a predator who preys on those younger than him.

An incredible scene saw him cut off his own hand to escape the authorities when he was handcuffed to a radiator - he was truly a man willing to do anything to ensure he didn't end up back behind bars.

Oz's Vern Schillinger

A proud racist who is serving a sentence for beating up a black drug dealer with a crowbar, Schillinger enjoys sexual sadism and rapes the series' anti-hero Tobias Beecher to initiate him into the prison. He's quick to have his Aryan brotherhood kill others in Oz so he can prove his crew are a threat, but he meets a grisly end himself when Tobias accidentally murders him during the prison play.

Prisoner and Wentworth Prison's Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson

Originally best known for her controversial technique when it comes to a frisk search, 'The Freak' has intelligence in spades and has been reinvented in the current series Wentworth Prison, after first being played by Maggie Kirkpatrick.

Now, Pamela Rabe is in the role and proving that strong, female characters in positions of authority are some of the most compelling to watch on-screen.

Bad Girls' Jim Fenner

He was a prison officer simply out for himself, and if he wasn't getting exactly what he wanted from the inmates he had no problem in coming up with plans to put an end to them once and for all. He did finally meet his comeuppance however when one of the Julie's stabbed him in the chest with an icy weapon and left him to die a slow and painful death. The UK applauded, but all the bad that he had done couldn't be reversed.

Orange is the New Black season 3 is available in its entirety now on Netflix, as well as the first two seasons of the show.
