With just over a week to go until the new season of Netflix original series Orange is the New Black makes its way to the streaming platform, Netflix UK & Ireland have really turned their hype game up to 11, sending The Only Way is Essex star and Meme Queen herself Gemma Collins onto the set of the show. Joining Litchfield Penitentiary for just one day, she instantly makes a name for herself in a hilarious scene, that probably proves the reality TV legend should stick to what she knows…
“I’ve always loved Orange is the New Black,” says Gemma, “and getting to visit the set and hang out with the girls was an absolute blast. Those ladies know how to have a good time and are my sort of people.
“I was a bit nervous thinking I was going into a real-life prison, but it was all good. The sets were so realistic and once you see everyone in their costumes you forget you’re in a giant studio.”
So, will Gemma be hanging out with the Litchfield ladies once their time behind bars is up?
“From the jungle to Big Brother, I’ve experienced my fair share of incarceration,” she says. “To be honest – this was the most fun! I’ve told the ladies, next time they’re in the UK, they’re coming to Gemma’s Boutique then off to Sugar Hut for a night on the tiles.”
Though Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Cindy (Adrienne C. Moore) and Ruiz (Jessica Pimentel) look to be having an alright time in this hilarious clip, the ladies are actually headed out of Litchfield for good, going straight to maximum security because of the riots and prison takeover that happened in season 5.
There, alliances and friendships will be tested like never before, with new allegiances formed and the temptation to turn on one another stronger than ever. Whether or not everybody will be able to survive the new world of max remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: we can’t wait to tune in and binge every episode!
