‘Welcome to The Vicarage, a refurbished 17th Century Grade II listed country pub, restaurant and hotel in the heart of Cheshire. The first of big things to come from the umbrella brand Flat Cap Hotels, a family run group with local roots. You can expect quirky décor matched with country comforts, championing local British seasonal produce & eco-sustainability’
The Vicarage Hotel Holmes Chapel - like the Court House is part of the Flat Hat group, is in a beautiful Grade II listed building which was formally a Vicarage and farmhouse.
When you enter the place first impressions are of warmth, welcoming and charm and character, mixing traditional and modern which really worked well.
We stayed in one of the three signature rooms, our room which was part of the original listed building.
When you first enter the bedroom, you are met by an enormous bed with luxury bedding and sumptuous furnishings. The bedroom had the original exposed beams, they just looked amazing,
The en suite was a stunning room with a freestanding bath with a stunning view over the Cheshire countryside. In the corner was large walk in shower/wet room.
A novel idea was the old walls had been stripped back to bare bricks and the gaps in the five hundred years old mortar were filled with corks obviously from bottles of champagne and fine wines, well that’s what I would like to think as I soaked in the sumptuous bath taking in the views out over the countryside.
in the room you have fresh homemade biscuits a Nespresso coffee machine and a selections of breakfast teas and something you don’t see a selection of reading books.
After my long soak in the bath we got ready to go down for our evening meal.
The lounge and bar area as we said earlier definitely has a laidback welcoming atmosphere.
In one large lounge area couples were sitting relaxing having a drink or two with their pet dogs at their feet, so it's definitely a pet friendly hotel.
Through into the dining room it was really busy which is always a good sign, that the food is going to be good.
It was a good menu that catered for all types of diner, I ordered my favorite Pate to start and a steak with chips for my main course, the chips were sprinkled with black truffle which was absolutely delicious, while the steak was cooked to prefection.
My husband opted for the homemade soup followed by fish and chips, a particular favorite of his, again this was beautifully cooked and presented.
After our main course I was so full I couldn’t be tempted by the dessert menu, I was just so full I could not eat any more. Stephen is a sweet person so he had a chocolate desert which did look really good.
After our meal we spent a nice relaxing evening in the bar where we did a lot of people watching and after a few drinks we decided to go up to bed
The bed was as comfortable as it looked and I had a really good sleep waking feeling fully refreshed.
Breakfast was served in the conservatory, nice bright and really warm. You have the choice of full English breakfast or a vegetarian option, but also some pasties cereals and fresh fruit, I had to go with the full English which was really taste.
Check out time was 11.00 so no made rush to leave straight after breakfast which was really nice.
Great hotel, great food and a really great atmosphere. A must visit I would book now you will not be disappointed
