The Macdonald Windsor Hotel

The Macdonald Windsor Hotel is a mere two minutes’ walk from Windsor Castle with a generous 120 individually designed rooms in the centre of the historic town. In fact you could see the castle from our room!

Despite being in the heart of the town, the hotel has great parking facilities, charged at £28.00 per night to ensure your car is safe while outside the city.

It is in a great location for commuters too, as it is only 15 minutes away from Heathrow airport, with great transport links. Paddington station was our starting point and we arrived at Windsor in 30 minutes on a fast train- it was very accessible from London.

We were greeted throughout our stay with outstanding and efficient staff. We had a very warm and hospitable check in; we were offered a newspaper for the morning and ordered breakfast in bed! There was even table service in the reception area, which I have never been able to take advantage of in another hotel before.

The chocolaty coloured room was simply beautiful and with colour scheme matched its indulgence factor! With a large bed and a large bathroom boasting all of the usual treats- shampoo, conditioner and a shower cap.

The luxurious room had two flat screen TVs, a mini bar, extra pillows and an iron and board, separate seating area and dressing table so we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The Macdonald WindsorHotel is renowned for its Scottish Steak Club, so we were eager to try their speciality. I am glad I did- the steak was cooked to perfection and our meals were very well presented in the contemporary on-site restaurant.

I would recommend Macdonald Hotel Windsor to anyone looking to stay just outside London and away from the bustle for the city. Windsor is well worth a visit for its history, culture and heritage and consequently it is becoming one of the UK’s most loved short break destinations. If you are looking to go into the city it is only a short train ride away, but well worth it for the slower pace of life and peace you get from the town of Windsor and the Macdonald Windsor Hotel.
