Ascott Hotel

Ascott Hotel

If you are looking for a homely and personal touch in a hotel, then The Ascott Hotel in Manchester is the place to go.

Despite the hotel manager not expecting my partner, he was very welcoming to us both when we first arrived and checked to ensure that the accommodation was suitable for two people.

The room itself as clean and quirky, with individual décor capturing a modern twist on the original features of the old converted house, which dates back to 1850.

The room was spotless and boasted a bed, wardrobe, dressing table, seating area and the bathroom was clean and well stocked with products.

As we were staying on a Friday night, we were unsure of where to dine and we received a call from the hotel manager to let us know of the best places to eat. He advised us to go Smyth’s, only a ten minute walk down the road and because we were staying at The Ascott we were entitled to a free glass of red or white in each.

The meal was delicious and lived up well to its recommendations; however the hotel was only 4 miles from the city centre if you want to eat a little further afield.

The manger assured me that although the hotel caters for business stays, family says and weekenders, it was popular with single women because it is a little out of the way which makes them feel safer when travelling alone.

The breakfast was plentiful and of excellent quality, served to us in good time. After breakfast the hotel manager gave me tour of all the other bedrooms and showed me what was available for each price bracket.

I have been doing hotel reviews for a while now and he is the first to give me the tour and a bit of background to the establishment, which I found to be not only interesting but considerate, given that he wants to promote his hotel as thoroughly as he can. Given that the house was built in 1850 for a cloth manufacturer and then went on to become a preparatory and a music school in the early twentieth century, it has a lot of tales to tell!

Prices are as follows:

Deluxe: £75.00 per night

Standard double: £65.00 per night

Single: £45.00 per night

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at The Ascot Hotel, Manchester and would not hesitate to go back or to recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.
