Carnival Tenerife
Carmen Gil (pictured below in her winning costume) was announced as Queen of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival during a special election gala which took place in the island’s capital, Santa Cruz, on 15th February 2012.
Carmen’s show-stopping costume “Empire” was designed by Santi Castro especially for the event, which is believed to be the second largest carnival in the world and attracts visitors from all around the world.
The Tenerife Carnival (which is taking place from 15th-26th February 2012) is the star attraction on Tenerife’s exciting year-round events calendar.
The exotic festival offers a day and night multi-sensory experience with a dazzling array of high octane street parades, live musical performances, spectacular dance acts and an electrifying “street carnival” atmosphere with drums, trumpets and Caribbean rhythms adding to the excitement of festivities.
This year’s Carnival is following the theme “60s Flower Power”.
