Although it’s nice to get away from your family for a few days and have a lad’s boozy holiday or a girlie weekend at the spa, it has been found that people are sacrificing these trips for more time with their kids and partners.
58% of Brits say that they prefer it if they go away with their families than their friends. Could this be because you are used to prolonged amounts of time with your family? Most of you do live with your families a lot of the time and with your friends, they may be good for a short stint, but do you really know how to live with each other for days in a row?
6% are much happier jetting off on their own and not having to contend with anyone! 17% prefer to spend a trip abroad with friends.
Kayak found that a third of Brits prefer the sunnier climbs and go abroad for their holidays, whereas 23% like to live it up here at home, which this year seems to be the best to do it! 21% manage to get away for regular trips, of more than two or three times whereas 46% like to go away twice a year with the money saved on fights. So what is your preference? Cheaper more frequent trips in and around the UK or one long trip abroad? Each has its perks!
Woman like to spend as much time as possible making sure nothing can go wrong when they are on holiday with 23% spending a month in advance ironing out potential problems and getting everything ready.
Men are not as preoccupied with planning as 11% take less than 12 hours to put a trip together.
Annie Wilson, Managing Director, KAYAK UK, commented: “Family holidays are a great way to reconnect and spend some quality time with kids and partners, and the results show that Brits are embracing their holiday time from work to do just that. However, there will probably always be a time and place for weekends away with friends. At KAYAK we help make planning for any type of holiday as easy as possible, whether it’s America with the family or Malta with your friends.”
