It’s the start of the Easter holidays and with a whole two weeks in front of you to keep the kids busy, it’s time to put on your Easter bonnet and start to fill up the family diary with egg-citing activities.
If you need some parenting inspiration this Easter, take a look at our list of things that the kids can’t miss out on!
Egg Hunt
It isn’t Easter without an egg hunt! This is a simple and cheap way to get the whole family bonding and having fun. Decorate the house with Easter bunting, cute rabbit ornaments and of course, eggs, to give it the egg-cellent feel of Easter. You can either choose chocolate eggs of plastic eggs to hide for the kids to go seek. Have fun inventing new hiding places and watch as the kids become determined to find the sweet treats.
Easter crafts
If the weather takes a turn for the worse – bring the fun indoors and get your craft on! An Easter bonnet is a must during this celebration. The kids can be as creative as their hearts desire and choose what decorations they want to be represented on the hats. Again, this can be cheap and cheerful as many bargain stores offer Easter crafts at fair prices. Why stop at bonnets? Be as imaginative as you can be; paint and colour pictures, design Easter tree decorations or simply use eggs (boiled or plastic) to add a twist to your craft day.
Easter baking treats
Easter is a perfect excuse to indulge in your favourite sweet treats, so why not roll your sleeves up and bake your own. The whole family can take part in this activity allowing for bonding time and plenty of memories. You can make anything from biscuits to cupcakes – the choice is yours. Leave the decorating to the children and witness the laughs and the smell of the baking flow through the room. Perfect Easter, if you ask me!
Local Farm
If you prefer to be outdoors this easter - Spring has sprung afterall - then why not visit your local farm. The whole family can head to the farm and spend the day with an array of animals from cute chicks to fluffy rabbits. Take along a picnic if the weather is on your side. Some farms may hold Easter events throughout half-term, so it’s worth checking if they offer any entertainment.
Local Libraries
Reading is always a good idea and this can only be encouraged more throughout the half-term. The kids may pick up books less throughout the holidays but taking a trip to your local library can help towards this. Throughout the Easter half-term, many libraries run activities for kids - all Easter themed. If your library is hosting, why not head down and show your support. Afterwards, you and the kids can start to make a dent in your Easter eggs – fully deserved, I’d say!
