A new list out today reveals that TV makeover shows featuring celebrities such as Gok Wan and Trinny & Susannah are shaping our lifetime aspirations.
Whilst traditional ideas of being famous, travelling across America and swimming with dolphins are on the list, they no longer top it as makeovers, and a date with the lovely George Clooney now hold pole position!
Yours magazine used a '60 Things to Do Before You're 60' competition to compile a definitive list of the dreams of everyday people. Almost 20% of entrants said having a makeover was the thing they'd most like to do before hitting that milestone.
The top 10 dreams were found be treating yourself to a makeover, enjoying the magical experiences of swimming with dolphins, and master the technique of riding a horse.
For all those travel-hungry amongst you, many people dream of seeing some of our worlds most spectacular scenery, ranging from walking along the Great Wall of China, riding through the Grand Canyon and gazing at the Northern Lights.
By the time most of us reach adulthood, we realise that that dream of being a movie star probably isn't going to happen so the next best thing is it be a movie extra...and obviously you could end up bumping into George Clooney and seducing him with your acting skills.
Other hopes are to take a balloon trip, learn to ice skate or, if you really want your wits scaring out of you, try wing-walking.
Valery McConnell, Editor of Yours magazine, believes that everyone should achieve their dreams, regardless of their age. She said, "The response to this competition was fantastic. The results prove our readers have a real passion for life, they see these as their 'freedom years' and a time when they can make their dreams come true."
She added, "We know from our postbag that our readers are active, keen to learn, want to experience it all and live life to the full. This competition has once again shown that they are also hungry for beauty and fashion advice, and is evidence that whether you are 25 or 55, looking and feeling fabulous is really important".
The entire list is published in the current issue of Yours magazine.
