Sydney before the celebrations begin

New Year’s Eve is famous for attracting people to witness breath-taking firework displays as they gather outdoors with friends and family.

In Britain, this involves wrapping up warm with a cup of mulled wine to fully appreciate the evening’s festivities, so FemaleFirst has outlined some of the most outstanding firework displays across the world for anyone venturing to warmer climates this winter.

The sun celebrates New Year’s Eve in Australia, and the firework display at Sydney Harbour is one of the most popular in the world.

Celebrations begin in the afternoon with paragliders and flyovers, before a warm-up firework display in the evening and the famous main event at midnight.

The fireworks can be enjoyed from the obvious locations; Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Mrs Macquarie’s Point to soak up the full atmosphere with local Aussies and tourists alike, but the show can also be enjoyed from more secluded areas further away.

Sydney At New Year

Competing with Sydney’s famous firework displays is Times Square in New York. Thousands of people fill the square to watch the digital countdown and welcome the New Year with true American enthusiasm.

Alternatively, and for a perfect family getaway, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida offers extended Park opening hours, exclusive entertainment and of course, magnificent firework displays.

The Magic Kingdom, a favourite amongst children, boasts ‘Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime’ parade and the ‘SpectroMagic’ parade throughout the day, with impressive firework displays in the evening and at midnight.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom hosts ‘Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade’ and a special laser-light show commences at Epcot.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ celebrations are more appealing to adults, which include lasers and firework shows, live rock performances and DJs. Lastly, Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney hosts an adventure-packed street party for over 21s, with live music, dinner buffet, champagne toasts and firework displays.

For those wishing to celebrate an adult-only New Year’s Eve, Prague combines a beautifully historic culture with a devishly naughty evening.

The Old Town Square is the most eventful location to watch the famous firework displays, which is surrounded by ancient churches and buildings. And for a slightly more peaceful option, visitors can view the show from Prague Castle overlooking the river.

Finally, the Queen Victoria Park near Niagara Falls in Canada is a sensational place to visit this New Year’s Eve.

A Niagara Falls Winter Magic Package includes admission to The Niagara Sky Wheel, Niagara’s Butterfly Conservatory, and the Journey behind the Falls experience, which provides a truly unique way to welcome in the New Year for lovers of the great outdoors.
