It would seem that the dream of going abroad for this year's summer holiday is still afloat.

Recent research has shown one in three Britons would holiday on home soil to save money during the credit crisis, but the ferry industry say those wanting to getaway from the UK need not worry about paying too much.

William Gibbons, Director of the Passenger Shipping Association says "Ferries are such marvelous value that you can actually get a ferry crossing for as low as £58 return on the Dover -Calais route with your car"
