Queen Elizabeth on Remembrance Sunday

Britain's Queen Elizabeth led a tribute to fallen soldiers on Remembrance Sunday yesterday (10.11.13).

The 87-year-old monarch was joined by members of the royal family, including her husband Prince Philip, grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry, and Duchess Catherine, at an official ceremony honouring servicemen and women who lost their lives in war.

Queen Elizabeth laid the first memorial wreath at the Cenotaph in London's Whitehall and was followed by Philip, William and Harry.

The royal family also observed a two-minute silence in honour of the war dead at 11am.

Unfortunately, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla were unable to attend as they are currently on an 11-day royal trip to India, but the couple led a memorial in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth's son Prince Andrew was joined by defence secretary Philip Hammond in a trip to Afghanistan, where they attended a Remembrance Sunday service with the British troops at Camp Bastion.

Last week, Prince William and Duchess Catherine - who have a three-month-old son, Prince George - shocked London commuters when they enjoyed a bus ride and appeared at High Street Kensington underground station in a bid to boost sales of poppy badges, which are worn to commemorate Remembrance Day.
