Britain's Prince William warned the Buckingham Palace soccer players not to upset Queen Elizabeth by breaking any windows during their match today (07.10.13).
The 31-year-old royal - President of the Football Association (FA) - is hosting a game between Civil Service FC and Polytechnic FC, both based in Chiswick, west London, at the iconic venue as part of the FA's 150th anniversary celebrations, but joked his grandmother wouldn't be pleased if any of her windows get smashed.
He told them: "This magnificent home, Buckingham Palace, is at the heart of the nation, and so there cannot be a more fitting setting to celebrate our national game, and to celebrate all of you.
"I cannot tell you how excited I am that later today we will be playing football on my grandmother's lawn. One warning, though: if anyone breaks a window, you can answer to her."
Before the match, which is taking place in the Palace garden, William honoured 150 of soccer's grassroots volunteers and paid tribute to their services to the game.
Speaking to guests, who included former England international Michael Owen, William said: "At its best, football is a powerful force for good in society. It binds people from different backgrounds, communities, faiths and abilities - and gives them a common interest, a unifying identity.
"I believe over its 150 years, football has remained a wonderful example of the power of community and of our ability to come together to organise and to enjoy a simple pastime."
William - who is a fan of Premier League outfit Aston Villa - had helped to organise the match, and the queen gave her permission for a pitch to be created on her 39-acre garden.
